topDave Barker (The Kennys Cues) recently completed a rare hat-trick of 8-balls in the Sunday Pool League.
The run of clearances started with two wins at St Georges, taking advantage of the biggest pockets in the League.
The third consecutive 8-ball was at home against Morris Man where, for good measure (mainly due to poor positional play), he finished off with 2 doubles into the same middle pocket.
The chance of making it four in a row was scuppered when Dave had a dry break in the second half, leaving Rob Wharne holding onto the outright record of four consecutive 8-balls.

ST GEORGES 4-1 GPO Social A
St Georges became the Subsidiary Team KO winners after securing a 4-1 victory over fellow 1st division side GPO A. St Georges already secured the 1st division Title the week before and thus make it a league and cup double.
John Daniels (Georges) was on first against Ant Davis (GPO). Davis went for his shots and looked in a great position until he unfortunately went in off on his final red. Daniels made no mistake and gave the Georges a 1-0 lead.
Robbie Jenkinson (Georges) was next on and took on Mark Sheerin (GPO). Both had chances but then it became a tactical frame and it was Sheerin who seized his chance and pot the black to level the scores at 1-1.
Paddy Baidwan (Georges) took on James Alldiss (GPO) in frame 3. Baidwan showed some fine form and his attacking style of play was rewarded with a nice clearance to make the score 2-1 to the Georges.
Jamie Woolley (Georges) was then paired against Mick Bryant (GPO) in frame 4 and from the start Woolley was in his stride. He took his chance and was rewarded with an '8 ball clearance' to give the Georges a 3-1 lead at the halfway point.
Jenkinson was on fifth and played Phil Alldiss (GPO). The match became a nervous frame and a long tactical battle was evident. Jenkinson dug in and was given a chance, he duly took it and won the match 4-1 to give the Georges the Winter Subsidiary KO trophy.
Another fine Final played in great spirit. Thank you to Lynda Simpson, Jason Armishaw and Neil Addison in refereeing the Final. Also thank you to Kennys Sportsbar for the use of their tables and food.

HOP POLE C 4-3 Metro Bar A
Hop Pole C became Stan Bent Team KO champions for the 2nd time (previously 2008/9) after overcoming a determined Metro Bar A team in the Final.
Alan Mason (Pole) started of proceedings with a fine performance against Alan Farrow (Met Bar) to put the Hop Pole C 1-0 up.
Mick Addison (Pole) then played Dave Ashton (Met Bar) in frame 2 and after an exchange of tactical play, Addison went for the clearance and put the Hop Pole C 2-0 up.
Duncan Sunderland (Pole) took on Warren Jesney (Met Bar) in frame 3 and Sunderland looked in a good position, but an 'in off' brought Jesney in and he duly took his chance to bring the Met Bar back in at 2-1 down.
Kev Brown (Pole) was drawn against Andy Palin (Met Bar) and Brown was in complete control. Then an uncharacteristic miss on his final yellow gave Palin a chance. He took it well with a fine clearance to level the match at 2-2.
Brown was straight back on in frame 5 and this time was up against Jesney. The match started of rather cagey, but another miss by Brown let Jesney back in. It looked a straight forward finish but he left his final shot blind on the black. With a bit of fortune, the black sat up and for the first time the Met Bar were ahead, 3-2 up.
Addison was next on in frame 6 and he was up against Andy Palin. The match was showing signs of tension but Addison had other ideas, he was left a chance and after some fine positioning he left himself a long black and he nailed it and so bring the scores level at 3-3.
Mason and Farrow were paired against each other in the Final Frame. Nerves started to show as both players knew that one loose shot could mean the end. After an exchange of snookers, Farrow left one short and gave Mason a great chance. He potted a long Final red and sunk a long black into the corner to give the Hop Pole C the Stan Bent Trophy.
A great Final played in great spirit, also a great turnout of fans from both teams and a great way to end the Winter season
Thanks to Tom Vernon, Dave Whitfield and Jason Armishaw for refereeing the final. Also thank you to Kennys Sportsbar for their hospitality in providing the tables and food.
31 Teams have entered the Summer league. There are SIX groups, comprising ONE group of SIX teams and FIVE groups of FIVE teams.

SCPA INTERLEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION MATCH TWO
STAFFORD 9-9 STOKE PLAZA
Played on Friday 10th March 2017 @Kennys Sportsbar.
Stafford welcomed Stoke Plaza in their latest Interleague match and came out with a draw after some fine pool was played by both teams on the night. Pete Sandhar, Dave Whitfield & Duncan Sunderland were the absentees on the night but Irene Wood returned to the side after missing match ONE.
Captain Alan Mason threw on Mark Shaw and Mike Barker for the first two frames and it was Barker who took his chance to give Stafford the lead, unfortunately Shaw couldnt follow suit as his opposite player cleared the table to level the scores. Simon Key then lost to an impressive 8 ball clearance by his opponent to fall 2-1 behind but before Stafford had time to lick there wounds Paul Loughead pulled of a great win to bring the scores level at 2-2. Frame 5 saw Mick Addison lose a close encounter. However like before, Stafford responded in style with an outstanding 8 ball clearance by Chris Broomhall to level the scores yet again at 3-3. Robbie Jenkinson then was fortunate in his frame and give Stafford a 4-3 lead. Alan Mason looked in complete control in his frame, but a slice of luck by his opponent saw him snatch the frame after potting the black off 4 cushions. Dave Barker showed his recent good form and won convincingly to give Stafford a 5-4 lead at the break
Captain Mason brought in Irene Wood for Shaw for the second half. Both Mike Barker and Si Key lost their games narrowly but a great pot on the black by Irene Wood pulled the scores level. Addison unfortunately lost to give the visitors the lead but Loughead picked up his 2nd win of the night with another fine clearance. Broomhall continued his fine performance on the night with a clinical finish in his game to give Stafford again an 8-7 lead. Unfortunately Jenkinson didnt have the luck in his 2nd game as he did in his 1st game and lost from a winnable position to give his opposite number a win to level the scores. Mason in the penultimate game had other ideas and punished his opponent with a fine clearance to give the Stafford team an 9-8 lead. However Dave Barker never really had a chance and had to watch his opponent pull off a fine clearance to give the visitors a deserved draw. A fair result between two sides who look likely to be challenging for the crown this season.
Man of the Match goes to Chris Broomhall for 2 fine displays of potting and positional play in both games
Played Sunday 12th March 2017
Kings Horse 2-4 JOINERS ARMS
KENNYS BEAR 4-2 Institute SC
The Kennys Cue 1-4 METRO BAR A
HOP POLE C 4-3 Highfields Club B
Division One leaders Joiners Arms reached the semi finals with a hard fought 4-2 win at 3rd div Kings Horse. Wins for Paul Loughead, Brendon Ruttledge and Simon Davies (2 wins) and an '8 ball' saw them through. Chris Rose won 2 on the night for the Horse.
Last years runners up Kennys Bear were drawn against runaway 2nd div side Institute SC and ran out 4-2 winners. Gav Davies (2), Jim Simpson '8 ball' and Andy Rawlinson all won for the Bear. Rob Wharne and Mark Billingsley were the winners for the Institute.
Metro Bar A pulled off a fine win over The Kennys Cue winning 4-1. Fine play by Alan Farrow, Dave Ashton, Andy Palin and Warren Jesney all won for the Met. Dave Barker was the sole winner for the Cueists.
Hop Pole C had to come back from 3-0 down to win their quarter Final over 2nd division Highfields B. Mike Challinor, Kev and Aaron Lewis got the Highfields off to a great start. However Alan Mason (2), Si Key and Kev Brown all won to pull off a remarkable escape. Mason capped it off with an 8 ball in the deciding frame.
Well done to all winning teams and commiserations to the losers!
SCPA INTERLEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION MATCH ONE
TT BAIZE 6-12 STAFFORD
Played on Friday 24th February 2017
The Stafford Interleague side travelled to Hanley in their latest Interleague match and ran out comfortable 12-6 winners away to TT Baize at the Green Baize.
Stafford welcomed back 2 former players in Mike & Dave Barker and fielded a very strong team
Captain Alan Mason decided to strike early and played Mike Barker and Simon Key in the first 2 frames and it was Barker who won the lag break. Barker broke and dished with an outstanding clearance to set the ball rolling and Key soon followed suit with a fine finish. Wins for Mick Addison, Mark Shaw & Dave Barker quickly gave Stafford a commanding 5-0 lead. However missed opportunities by Sunderland, Whitfield & Sandhar gave the home team hope with only Chris Broomhall winning the other frame which left the score 6-3 at halftime.
Captain Mason brought himself and Paul Loughead in exchange for Whitfield and Sandhar in the 2nd half. Stafford started the same way as they did in the first and raced into a 9-4 lead with wins for Dave Barker, Key & Addison, but Mike Barker could do little to stop his opponent pulling off a fine clearance. A blip saw both Shaw & Sunderland give hope to the Baize to leave the score at 9-6. However Mason had other ideas and pulled off a fine clearance to get the all important frame to win the match. Loughead & Broomhall finished off proceedings to push Stafford further ahead and give the Stafford team a well deserved 12-6 success
Man of the Match goes to Dave Barker for his 2 solid wins on the night, one of which looked an impossibility to win at one stage.
Played on Sunday 5th February 2017.
